URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Vineyard Church is days away from starting its annual “Socktober.”

All next month, they will be collecting socks for people in need across Central Illinois. This is the fourth year of the collection drive. The socks go to homeless shelters and the C-U Schools Foundation.

Any size and type of socks are accepted, they just have to be new. Organizers hope the growth seen in past years continues into this year.

“We have really expanded a great deal,” Community Outreach Director Marti Pearson said. “The first year we collected about 1,500 [pairs of socks], I believe. Last year we were able to collect 13,000.”

Pearson said her goal is to collect 15,000 pairs this year. The church has an Amazon wish list if you’d like to donate online. Here is the list of in-person drop-off locations.
