DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Each holiday season, artists in Central Illinois have the chance to show off their talents by taking part in “Christmas Card Lane.”

It’s a community art project in Decatur and applications are open now and are first come, first serve.

This will be the seventh year of Christmas Card Lane, and the Decatur Area Arts Council said the project is open to all artists or groups. You don’t have to be a Decatur resident to participate.

Participants will receive a 4×6 sheet of plywood to create their design, but the artist will be responsible for providing the rest of their materials.

First place will receive a $200 prize, second place will receive a $100 prize and the third-place winner will receive $50. The cost is $40 to participate.

Participants will be contacted when they may pick up their cards, beginning Oct. 14. Completed cards are due back to the Decatur Area Arts Council by Nov. 13.

Community members will be able to vote for the favorite design beginning Nov. 18 until Dec. 24.

The cards will be displayed in Preston Jackson Park from November to December.

Visit the Decatur Area Arts Council website for more information.
