DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Officials are investigating after a vacant home in Decatur caught fire Monday night.

Around 10:15 p.m., Decatur firefighters arrived at 975 W. Packard St. after they received reports of a house on fire. When they arrived, they said they saw heavy flames coming from the rear of the two-story home.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames both outside of the home and inside, where the fire extended to the second floor and the attic. Firefighters had the flames controlled by just half an hour after they arrived.

No one was hurt, and no one was home at the time of the fire. Officials determined the home was vacant and boarded up.

Abbott-AMR and Ameren assisted, as well as the Office of the State Fire Marshal who is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
