    Champaign Police looking for panel volunteers

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department is looking for community volunteers to staff two essential roles.

    The police department is looking for community members to staff officer interview panels. Volunteers will meet with candidates to be a police officer to assess candidate qualifications and give feedback to the police chief. Panelists are asked to commit to at least one day per month to participate in interviews

    Additionally, they are looking for citizen representatives to staff the Use of Force Committee to review specific and offer training and policy recommendations. The committee meets monthly over Zoom for one to two hours.

    Both positions require training and the signing of a non-disclosure agreement. Everyone must be a resident of the city of Champaign as well as 21 years old or older.
