Pritzker heading to Japan to try and attract businesses to Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) — Governor JB Pritzker is leading a trade mission to Japan.

“When I became Governor, I promised to be our state’s best Chief Marketing Officer—sharing with any and all global partners that Illinois is the best place to live, work, and do business,” said Governor JB Pritzker . “Over the course of next week, I couldn’t be more excited to meet with local and international leaders in Japan—highlighting our state’s many accomplishments and ambitious goals across sectors like education, clean energy, manufacturing, and business.”

The trip will be used as an opportunity to advertise Illinois, and the products that are made here. Exports from Illinois to Japan increased by almost 32 percent since 2019, according to the Governor’s office.

But the governor will also be using the trip to try and attract more businesses to come to Illinois as well. The state is making huge investments in new areas like quantum computing, electric vehicle manufacturing, and data center construction. This is just the latest trip that Pritzker has made to try and tout these opportunities.

The governor is being joined by a cohort of nearly 50 state leaders, business executive, and education experts.
