PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA) — The effects of Hurricane Helene have been devastating, but some Central Illinois workers are doing all they can to help out.

In a Facebook post Tuesday morning, the Eastern Illini Electric Co-op thanked one of their line crews for stepping up and heading to Georgia. Nick, Drew, Jonah and Noah are taking over for the current crew, who will be heading home soon.

The original crew set out on the morning of Sept. 26, just before the hurricane hit, to try and aid in repairing the anticipated electrical storm damage from Helene.

The site where both crews drove to is the Carol Electric Membership Cooperative headquartered in Carrollton, Georgia.

The main goal of these crews is to restore power for Georgia residents as safely and quickly as possible.
