    Combine catches fire in Gifford field

    GIFFORD, Ill. (WCIA) — Wednesday afternoon, a combine caught fire in Champaign County.

    Just before 3:00 p.m., a fire was reported in a field in Gifford just off of County Road 2700 North. As of now, the Gifford Fire Department does not know how the fire started.

    The fire lasted around 45 minutes, and no further assistance was needed. Nobody was injured as a result of the fire, according to the Gifford Fire Department.

    The Gifford FD said there was no serious damage to the field or the combine, which is used to harvest beans in the field.

    WCIA has reached out to GFD for more information and will update the story when the new information is available.
