CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois football has its second sellout on the 2024 campaign.

Illinois’s game against Michigan, scheduled for Oct. 19, is sold out, Illinois Athletics announced on Wednesday.

The game will serve as the Memorial Stadium 100th Anniversary Rededication Game, 100 years and one day after Illinois’ historic Memorial Stadium Dedication Game on Oct. 18, 1924.

It’ll mark the first time Illini football has sold out multiple home games in one season since 2009. Illinois beat then No. 19 Kansas, 23-17, in front of a packed house in week two of the 2024 season. Prior to the Kansas game, Memorial Stadium hadn’t been sold out since 2016.

The week seven game against the reigning national champions will likely be a meeting of two ranked teams if Illinois wins on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Orange and Blue will play Purdue (1-4) at home and Michigan is one a bye week before visiting Champaign. The Wolverines will come to Memorial Stadium 4-2 on the year.
