Champaign Co. bike trail closing for renovations

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A bike trail in Mahomet will be temporarily shut down.

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District announced that starting on Monday, Oct. 14, the paved bike trail between the Lake of the Woods Golf Course and Lake of the Woods Road will be closed for renovations.

The repairs will take approximately 2 weeks, and the closure will also include the parking lot at Hawthorne Hill. The district is asking residents to avoid the area while work is being done.

While the area is being worked on, residents can use the newly renovated trail at Buffalo Trace or any other trail at Lake of the Woods.

The forest preserve district will notify the public with any updates regarding the renovations on their social media sites and website .
