DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville woman is under arrest after police said she fled from officers and had an unlawful gun in her possession.

Deputy Chief Terry McCord said the arrest happened early Friday morning. At around midnight, officers patrolling the area of Griffin and Williams Streets saw a car driving erratically and well above the speed limit. When they tried to pull the car over, McCord said the driver initially refused to stop and sped off.

The driver eventually did stop in the area of Porter and Seminary Streets. As officers searched the car afterward, they found an “unlawful firearm” inside.
