EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — An awareness ride for a motorcyclist who died in an accident in September was held on Saturday.

WCIA reported that Dale Davis, from Teutopolis, passed away on Sept. 30 after another vehicle failed to yield to Davis and the two vehicles collided in an intersection.

In memory of Davis, friends and family will meet at Village Square Mall in Effingham for a benefit and awareness ride.

All of the money raised will go towards funeral costs and other expenses for Davis. Organizers said they hope the event helps people become more aware of bike riders on the road.

Beginning around 12:30 p.m., motorists will drive through Effingham, eventually heading over to Keyesport. They plan to stop at “The Keys on Lake Carlyle” restaurant and then head to the Carlyle South Dam. After that, the drivers will go to Swamp Tales in Carlyle, and then to the Centralia mall parking lot.

The awareness ride will finish up back at the Effingham Village Square Mall for stunt riding and a Celebration of Life for Davis.
