SULLIVAN, Ill. (WCIA) — A large fire overtook a field in Sullivan on Sunday afternoon.

According to Kenny Graven, a captain with the Sullivan Fire Protection District, firefighters from Sullivan, Bethany and Lovington responded to reports of a fire around 2:30 p.m. They were able to clear the scene around 4:30 p.m.

The fire burned in a field near 1415 Country Road and 825 East.

Although firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, they say it started on the side of the road.

No injuries were reported from the fire.

The Sullivan Fire Protection District asks people to remember not to start burns or to throw cigarettes or matches outside.

Graven said this is the second or third fire he’s responded to this season.
