CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — It’s the start of Amnesty Week at the Champaign County Circuit Clerk’s office, meaning people with violations can save money paying off their balances.

Payments made to ordinance, DUIs, criminal, traffic or ordinance violations during Amnesty Week will not include any late fees and collection fees accumulated over time.

To start, anyone interested would need to email the Circuit Clerk’s office at cccircuitclerk@co.champaign.il.us for a quote. The email needs to include individuals’ name with middle initial, their address, their phone number, their email address, and their case number or numbers.

After getting a quote, people can pay off their violation in person at the Clerk’s office in the County Courthouse in Urbana from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cash, cashier’s checks, credit cards or debit cards are all accepted.

Payments can also be made online at the Circuit Clerk’s website. Individuals will need to use the reference numbers from their Amnesty Week quotes.

The program starts Monday and continues until Oct. 25. Anyone with questions on Amnesty Week can contact the Circuit Clerk’s office at 217-384-3725 or by emailing
