Vermilion Co. grocery store burglarized once again

SIDELL Ill. (WCIA) — A Central Illinois grocery store is a target for thieves, for what workers say is the fifth time.

Another break-in happened at Sidell Grocery at Main and North Gray in Sidell. The latest one happened overnight on Sunday.

The store posted on Facebook that this was their fifth break-in. The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department confirmed only two burglaries.

An ATM was stolen seven years ago and two adults were arrested. Two years later, the front door of the business was busted out and cigarettes were stolen. A juvenile was arrested for that.

The sheriff’s department said it looked like those responsible for the latest break-in took tobacco products.

The store did not want to comment and would not share security camera video.
