Central IL floral shops make strangers’ days bloom

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Flower shops all around Central Illinois are hoping to spread some love on Oct. 16 for “Petal it Forward Day.”

Participating floral shops gave out two flowers or bouquets to people passing by on Wednesday. Participants are allowed to keep one, and then encouraged to gift the second one to a stranger.

The Society of American Florists said this day was created to show the “positive health benefits of giving and receiving flowers.”
