MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Maroa-Forsyth High School is hosting a fundraiser event to show support for domestic violence victims.

According to the Maroa-Forsyth High School’s Facebook page, several students in the district were “negatively affected by a traumatic domestic violence event” several weeks ago.

To help support the family and the mother’s recovery and to acknowledge Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the school will pass out purple wristbands for students and staff to wear on Friday.

The school said donations will be accepted at that time as well. The donations will go directly to the family and any amount is appreciated.

The school said a limited number of bracelets are available for students and staff first. But, they suggest that if community members are interested in a bracelet, to call into the high school office on Friday to see if there are any extras.
