    Springfield firefighter saves dog in house fire

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — One Springfield firefighter may have saved the life of a local family’s beloved pet.

    Springfield firefighters return from Florida deployment

    Thursday morning, Local 37 firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 2000 block of Henley.

    While on the scene, Springfield Firefighter Josh Beard found the family’s dog and was able to safely bring him out while conducting a search of the house.

    The dog had been found in the basement by Beard, and Springfield Fire Fighters Local 37 said the family was “more than appreciative” that he was brought out safely.
