    One airlifted after car vs. deer accident in Shelby County

    SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Cumberland County first responders were dispatched to a car vs. deer accident early Friday morning.

    The Neoga Fire Protection District said crews responded just before 5 a.m. to the accident, which was west of Trowbridge on county highway 33. The vehicle, which had landed in a ditch, caught fire with heavy smoke.

    Everyone inside the vehicle was able to evacuate. Neoga firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

    One person had to be taken to a hospital via an Air Evac Lifestream 145 helicopter for “further care.” It is unknown what their condition is at this time.
