MATOOON, Ill. (WCIA) — Nobody was injured during a structure fire in Mattoon this afternoon.

Initially, the Charleston Fire Department was dispatched to assist, but the Mattoon Department was able to hold the fire off themselves, putting the flames out at approximately 12:16 p.m. MFD believes the fire started on the exterior of the house, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

As a result of the fire, the house suffered siding and other exterior damage. Hilligoss estimates the total damage costs will be between $5,000-$10,000 by the time a contractor is hired.

There is no further information available at this time.
