SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — One Central Illinois legislator is looking for veterans to be featured in a display at the Illinois State Capitol next month.

Sen. Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City) is looking for residents to submit family members or friends that are veterans to be included in a memorial display at the State Capitol building. He’s asking for a photo and short story less than 250 words for the display.

Here’s how Illinois’ proposed ‘millionaire tax’ would provide property tax relief

“I want to make sure that we recognize the brave men and women who have served our country,” Bennett said. “We are able to live in a free country because of the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans.”

All entries can be submitted by emailing VeteransDay@sgop.ilga.gov or mailing the photos and stories to Veterans Day Wall, 110D State House, Springfield, IL 62706.

The annual Veterans Day Wall of Honor will be displayed in the Capitol rotunda from Nov. 11 to Nov. 25 on a large electronic display. Visitors will be able to write appreciation notes to those who served.
