CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — One downtown Champaign business is adding some color to its exterior.

Artist Jose Vazquez has partnered with 40 North and Experience C-U to paint a 17 by 26-foot mural facing Chester Street.

They started discussing this project last year and approached Ten Thousand Villages to use their wall. It will be done with spray paint, or what Vasquez calls aerosol art.

“I love it. I mean, just the idea of kind of having something that is a public art that everybody can see and enjoy,” Vasquez said. “Hopefully it’s something that I think will also bring a lot of people to the city because I think so many people enjoy art overall, it’s nice.”

Vasquez says he’s about 20-30% done with the mural. His goal is finishing it within the next week, before the weather gets too cold.
