CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Danville Fire Department has officially lifted their burn ban, but the same cannot be said for other Central Illinois areas.

The burn ban, originally issued on Oct. 22, has been lifted. “With the improved conditions, we will resume open burning within the city as allowed by the city ordinance,” said Fire Chief Aaron Marcott on Friday.

Danville appears to be the only local area making this change.

Hoopeston still has a burn ban, which has been in effect since Oct. 6. Strasburg’s ban is also still in effect, which was issued on Oct. 22.

The Village of Fisher’s burn ban will still be in effect through the weekend, and they will reevaluate the ban on Monday. Their temporary ban was first issued on Oct. 21.

Coles-Moultrie still does not have an official burn ban in place, but they are still discouraging open burning and warning residents to use extra caution with farm machinery. They first announced these recommendations on Oct. 22.

WCIA reached out to Iroquois County, and is waiting for an update on their burn ban which was put in place on Oct. 11.
