    One injured after weekend shooting in Rantoul

    RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — The Rantoul Police Department is investigating after a man was shot over the weekend.

    Around 4:39 p.m. on Saturday, the Rantoul Police Department responded to the 1200 block of East Grove Avenue after reports that someone had been injured in a shooting.

    Officers found a 22-year-old Ludlow man at the scene. He had injuries in his arm and lower back. Rantoul officers provided medical treatment to the victim and brought him to a local hospital for further care. According to Rantoul police, the injuries are believed to be “non-life-threatening.”

    Officers are speaking with witnesses who were on the scene. Police said that their initial findings indicate that the Ludlow man was approached by the suspect before the shooting. While investigating, officers also found five shell casings at the scene.
