Man arrested, accused of killing Charlotte man more than a week earlier
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man suspected of killing another man in Charlotte earlier in July was arrested in South Carolina on Wednesday. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said 41-year-old Eric Watson was taken into custody in Lancaster County, South Carolina. Watson is charged with killing 36-year-old Derrick Byas more than a week prior.

Shooting leaves 1 dead, another wounded in Kannapolis
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A shooting that unfolded in Kannapolis late Tuesday night ended with an 18-year-old dead and another person wounded. The Kannapolis Police Department said it happened around 11:45 p.m. along Caribbean Court, south of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard.
