Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval spoke in support of Vice President Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday.

Pureval took the stage just after 7 p.m. to discuss the current administration's work to address the Brent Spence Bridge, calling out former President Donald Trump for not working on it during his time in office.

"For years, politicians came through my city and promised to fix the Brent Spence Bridge, which connects Ohio to Kentucky," Pureval said. "Donald Trump was one of them. He did what they all do — press conference here, photo op there. But nothing changed until Kamala Harris and Joe Biden."

The mayor spoke about Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the investment it gave the city. According to White House estimates, Ohio will get more than $12 billion in funding from the act, with Kentucky receiving nearly $7 billion. A chunk of that money will go to the Brent Spence Bridge.

"It will stitch our communities back together and it will fix that damn bridge once and for all," Pureval said.

He ended his short speech by stating that under Harris, "progress will only continue."

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also spoke at the convention on Monday. He was a rumored finalist for consideration as Harris' VP pick, which eventually went to Walz. Beshear spent his time on the national stage speaking about Harris' plan for reproductive rights, and said her campaign will win because they "(do) right by our neighbors."

The Democratic National Convention will wrap up Thursday.
