OSHP: 2 dead following ATV crash in Springfield

Two 21-year-olds were killed early Friday morning in an ATV crash in Springfield, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

OSHP said crews responded to reports of an ATV crash at the 3200 block of Ballentine Pike at 12:49 a.m.

Officials found that 21-year-old Landon E Overholser of Springfield was driving an ATV with Kylie E. Coffey, 21, as a passenger. Overholser was driving northbound on Ballentine Pike when he sideswiped another ATV, causing him to lose control, drive off the roadway, into a fence, and overturn the ATV, OSHP said.

Both Overholser and Coffey were critically injured in the crash.

OSHP said Coffey was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries. Overholser was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital, and he died early Saturday morning.

OSHP said Ballentine Pike was closed for about four hours while they investigated the crash.
