The Extra Point: New Brockton vs. Pike Liberal Arts

TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — Friday night the New Brockton Gamecocks battled more than just an opponent.

Playing for the first time since a Freshman player died after collapsing during practice last week.

With heavy hearts, the team took the field with Semaj Wilkins on their minds and hearts.

Wilkins collapsed during practice on August 13, later dying in the hospital.

On the 16th, his teammates, coaches, and student peers honored his life with a vigil where the school retired his #27.

Now the page turns to Pike Liberal Arts, who in support of New Brockton, sported a 27 decal on the players’ helmets.

Patriots win over Gamecocks, 35-6.
