ENTERPRISE, Ala (WDHN) — Fall lovers in the Wiregrass will get a special treat on Saturday, October 19, with two back-to-back events in the heart of Enterprise.

Pumpkin Day at the Farmers Market is from 7:00 a.m. to noon, and the Boll Weevil Fall Festival will start at 11:00 a.m. and go to 4:00 p.m.

Mayor William E. Cooper will kick off the annual Pumpkin Day at 7:30 am., followed by a pumpkin painting contest from 8-11:00 a.m. The pumpkins will be judged in the following categories:

    • Ages 5 and under
    • Ages 6-9
    • Ages 10-13
    • Ages 14-17
    • Ages 18 and older

First—and second-place winners in each category will receive gift cards. Contestants will also receive pumpkins and paint while supplies last.

Along with the contest, those attending the farmers market can participate in the Fall Treat Walk from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Enterprise City officials describe the event as a traditional cake walk, with the chance to win not only sweet treats but also crafts, soaps, produce, or other local products.

Following the Enterprise Farmers Market festivities, the Boll Weevil Fall Festival will be kicking off on Main and College Streets in the heart of downtown Enterprise.

This festival will include “dozens” of vendors and activities, including train rides, inflatables, food trucks, local produce vendors, a mobile video game truck, and more.

During the festival, the Enterprise Police Department will host a downtown scavenger hunt at its booth.

“Whether you’re shopping for local produce, painting the perfect pumpkin, shopping for holiday gifts, or looking for free, family-friendly fun, downtown Enterprise is the place to be this Saturday,” Tammy Doerer, Director of Tourism and Community Relations for the City of Enterprise, said. “Start your morning with more than 30 produce and craft vendors and a pumpkin painting contest at the Enterprise Farmers Market and then work your way down Main Street for even more talented vendors, food trucks, interactive activities and entertainment
at the Boll Weevil Fall Festival.”

Doerer continued, saying: “The Boll Weevil Fall Festival is just the beginning of the start of the holiday season in Enterprise,” Doerer said. “We invite the community to come shop not only the vendors lining the roadway but to check out the variety of merchants and restaurants that are open year-round in our downtown district.”
