DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Emmanuel Christian School’s new Head of School issued a statement on Tuesday, dispelling rumors that the private institution would soon close its doors.

“There have been rumors in the community about the school closing. I want to assure you that is not the case,” said Paraswun Brown.

The ECS Board announced that Brown would take on the role of Head of School Monday night after Michelle McDaniel’s immediate “departure.”

The board did not give a reason for the shift, only saying they are “committed to making the necessary changes to preserve and strengthen our school community.”

“Many changes have occurred at our school over the past few years,” Brown said in her statement. “Please know there will always be rumors but moving forward, I along with the board, faculty and staff and parents will work together to do what is best for our students and bring honor and glory to God.”

The school said that during the transition, Bethel Christian Academy will provide “guidance and expertise” to Brown and Emmanuel’s board of directors.
