Deadline to file property value appeals is near

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Montgomery County residents are running out of time to send appeals for their assigned property values.

According to the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office, residents have until April 1 to submit appeals to the Board of Revision.

Residents can submit appeals to challenge property values assigned in 2023. These values can be viewed at the Montgomery County Real Estate website .

Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith said in the media release that the auditor’s office encourages residents to submit requests if necessary.

“If a property owner disagrees with the value we’ve set on their property, we want them to feel welcomed and empowered to file a property value appeal with the Board of Revision.”

After an appeal is submitted, the Board of Revision — consisting of representatives from the County Treasurer, County Commission and County Auditor — receives evidence that may or may not substantiate the given claim. These hearings are conducted via Zoom or phone call.
