DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Cleanup efforts continue in Greenville following a destructive storm and confirmed tornado touchdown Tuesday night .

Damage can be seen around the city, especially in areas like Greenville City Park.

Mayor Jeffrey Whitaker said that he expects these cleanup efforts to take weeks, even months, to get Greenville back to its former self.

“A lot of homes have had tree damage done to them, some a lot more significant than others,” said Whitaker. “But everybody is working with their insurance companies and, you know, tree companies to come out and clean their houses up as well. It’s going to be hard to estimate the damage.”

Street and safety crews have been hard at work the past couple of days just cleaning up parks, sidewalks, properties, and even streets from the debris that this tornado left behind.

The city said that there were no emergency calls for injuries and that the destruction was mainly trees being uprooted and falling onto homes, damaging rooftops.

The community has also been hard at work cleaning up and helping the city as well as their neighbors.

The mayor said there will be a group of volunteers that will be helping crews clean up the area throughout this weekend.
