MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) — The city of Moraine has approved funding for a snack company headed for an ex-General Motors building.

At the Moraine City Council meeting on Thursday, May 23, councilmembers approved a $250,000 forgiveness loan for Project Crispy. Shearer’s Foods, LLC applied for a tax credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, which initially labeled themselves as being “Project Crispy.”

Montgomery County previously awarded the snack company with an ED/GE grant . The grant from the county is distributed to select companies to “create and retain local jobs.”

Approval of the funding allows Shearer’s to utilize the remaining vacancy at the former General Motors Paint Plant on Springboro Pike in Moraine.

When the project is complete, an estimated 250 jobs will be created.
