    1 dead after crash on U.S. 127

    PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is dead after a crash involving a Toyota Scion and a semi.

    The two vehicle crash closed all lanes in both directions of traffic for several hours .

    According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. on US 127, south of Camden College Corner Road.

    A preliminary investigation indicates that the crash occurred as the driver of the Toyota Scion struck a semi tractor and trailer. The Toyota was traveling left of center in the southbound direction on US 127 as the semi was traveling northbound.

    The driver of the Toyota, identified as Taylor Hicks, 24, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Hicks was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

    Investigators are working to learn if alcohol was a factor.

    The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.

    The Preble County Coroner’s Office as well as the Preble County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.

    Camden – Somers Township Fire/EMS, Gasper Township Fire/EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation were on scene to assist.
