    Ohio man thrown from motorcycle, dies in Shelby County

    NEWPORT, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in Shelby County.

    The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reports first responders were sent just before 6 a.m. on Aug. 16 to the intersection of State Route 66 and Fort Recovery Road in Newport. Crews responded to the scene in reference to a three-vehicle crash.

    Suspect hits train in Miamisburg following cross-county chase

    A preliminary investigation conducted reportedly showed a motorcycle was rear-ended by a truck. According to SCSO, the motorcycle was “pushed forward” and hit the rear of an SUV.

    Although the drivers of the truck and SUV were treated for their injuries and released at the scene, the motorcyclist was reportedly thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. The motorcyclist has been identified as Jack Howbert from Chillicothe.

    At this time, the investigation remains ongoing.
