YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (WDTN) — A new ride at Young’s Jersey Dairy is providing back to the community in a big way.

Debuting on July 11, Cowtherine’s Carousel has raised over $103,000 for Rocking Horse Community Health Center, a local nonprofit providing medical care to individuals in Springfield.

By creating sponsorships for each of the 30 animals on the carousel, people are able to “adopt” each animal on the ride for $5,000. As of date, one cow and numerous horses are available to be adopted. Once a sponsor, the adoption lasts for five years, and you will receive free rides and a plaque for the time period.

Outside of the ride, Young’s has sold over 600 customized bricks, also benefitting the nonprofit.

“At Young’s Jersey Dairy, our roots run deep in this community, and we believe in supporting the organizations that make a lasting impact,” said John Young, CIEIO at Young’s Jersey Dairy. “We chose Rocking Horse Community Health Center as the beneficiary for these projects because their commitment to providing accessible, compassionate care aligns perfectly with our values.”

According to Chris Schutte, vice president of destination marketing at the Greater Springfield Partnership, the organization has sponsored a cow they named Rosie. The name Rosie was chosen due to Springfield’s nickname as “The Rose City.”

Each Wednesday, 50 cents of all carousel tickets purchased will go towards a local charity or nonprofit.
