HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) — A Huber Heights school was evacuated for roughly 30 minutes after a burning smell was reported.

In a message to families, the Huber Heights City School District reported a “smell of burning plastic” prompted the evacuation of everyone inside of Weisenborn Junior High School Monday before noon.

‘Significant damage’ caused at local water pumping station

First responders from multiple jurisdictions arrived at the school to scour the building and find the cause of the reported smell.

“Students and staff were safe throughout the incident and responded in the appropriate way to this incident,” said the school district.

Just prior to 12:30 p.m., firefighters deemed the building safe for students and faculty to return.
