DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Finalists for a prestigious, Dayton-centric award were recently announced.

The Dayton Literary Peace Prize has released its list of finalists.

The two categories feature six authors of fiction and non-fiction respectively. The winners of each category will receive a $10,000 cash prize, with first runner-ups receiving $5,000.

The Dayton Literary Peace Prize was inspired by the Dayton Accords, which ended the Bosnian War. The award is the first and only international literary peace prize awarded in the U.S. and recognizes writers whose work demonstrates how the written word aids in fostering peace, social justice, and global understanding between peoples.
