DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Dayton Metro Library is teaming up with community partners to offer free legal clinics.

The Dayton Metro Library held its first of two free legal clinics on Thursday at their Huber Heights branch. The “Record Sealing Legal Aid Clinic” was done in collaboration with the Greater Dayton Volunteers Lawyers Project.

During the event, patrons could meet with volunteers from GDVLP and local courts to learn more about filing the necessary documents for record sealing.

Those who weren’t able to attend are encouraged to reach out to GDVLP at gdvlp.org.

On Monday, Sept. 9, DML will hold another event, “Community Enterprise Legal Clinic,” at the main library. The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m., presented by Advocates for Basic Legal Equality.

The clinic is meant for low income or minority entrepreneurs who are interested in beginning a small business or nonprofit, or are working to maintain one, in Dayton. After a brief presentation, patrons who meet ABLE’s requirements can meet with a pro bono attorney to discuss a variety of topics.

Registration is required for this event. Click here to learn more.

Questions about the legal clinics can be directed to the library’s Ask Me Line at 937-463-2665.
