TROY, Ohio (WDTN) — The perfect way to exercise and eat some sweet treats is happening tomorrow.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, donut shops across Troy will host bike riders participating in the annual Tour de Donut event.

The “race” entails that riders bike fast and eat just so. Riders will travel to different shops and will be timed for doing so. Every donut eaten (and retained) during each stop deducts five minutes off the rider’s time total.

The rider with the best adjusted time will receive a Tour de Donut championship jersey. There are several other prizes for those participating as well, for most donuts eaten and fastest race time if participants choose to narrow their focus.

According to the event website, the event is set to begin at 11 N. Market Street in Troy. Parking will be available at Troy Junior High School, Troy High School and Hobart Arena. Other events happening before the racing begins include food trucks, a costume contest and more.

The Tour de Donut event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

Prices for single riders, tandem riders and recumbents are set to increase by varying amounts tonight at 11:59 p.m.
