    26 organizations receive $117K in grants from The Dayton Foundation

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Nearly $117,000 in grants were just approved by the Dayton Foundation Governing Board to support 26 organizations with Basic Human Needs Grants.

    The grants help nonprofits that assist individuals and families in the Greater Dayton area with necessities such as food, shelter, clothing and healthcare.

    ‘Globally rare’: Cincinnati Zoo working to restore clover population

    A total of $116,950 in grants were awarded to the following organizations:

    • Artemis Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence ($3,600) for various items.
    • Bellbrook Presbyterian Church ($2,000) to provide fresh food and dairy alternatives.
    • Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Community Support Center ($2,250) to provide healthy snack items.
    • Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Miami Valley, Inc. ($6,000) for products and gift cards.
    • Boys and Girls Club of Dayton ($4,500) to provide snacks.
    • Breast Wishes Foundation ($5,500) for new appliances (to fulfill wishes).
    • The Brunner Literacy Center ($4,000) for tutor supplies.
    • El Puente Educational Center, Inc. ($5,000) to assist in covering food expenses.
    • Fisher Nightingale Houses ($2,600) to replace worn cookware in Fisher Houses I and II.
    • Friends of the House of the People ($7,500) to assist with renovations.
    • Good Neighbor House ($5,000) for improved accessibility and a new freezer unit.
    • Greater Edgemont Community Coalition ($6,000) for supplies for community gardens.
    • Habitat for Humanity for Greater Dayton ($7,500) for plumbing and electric repairs.
    • Helping Hands of Dayton ($2,500) to purchase personal care items needed for Care Kits.
    • Junior Achievement of O.K.I. Partners ($3,900) for bussing to Inspire to Hire Career Expo.
    • Mercy Manor, Inc. ($5,000) to purchase refrigerators, food, medication and hygiene items.
    • Miami Valley Meals ($5,000) to combat food insecurity and waste in the Dayton area.
    • Fellowship Tabernacle Food Pantry ($2,000) to purchase laundry and dish soap.
    • NPower Inc. ($3,500) to cover the IT Tech Fundamentals test certification fees.
    • Our Lady, Mother of Refugees Conference ($7,500) to assist families with rent, utilities, etc.
    • Parity, Inc. ($2,500) to cover costs of field trips.
    • South Community Behavioral Health ($6,100) to purchase breakfast items.
    • St. Margaret Episcopal Church ($4,000) to purchase food and educational supplies.
    • The Unforgettables Foundation of Southern Ohio ($3,000) to pay for child burials.
    • United Rehabilitation Services ($7,500) to acquire adaptive equipment.
    • Virtuous New Life Ministries Inc. ($3,000) to provide utility and rental assistance.
