DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The cat who survived a vicious fire attack in July has made great progress, despite setbacks in his healing journey.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton posted an update on social media on Tuesday , sharing that Joffrey has made “amazing strides in his recovery.”

They say the animal has been continually on pain medications and antibiotics while receiving daily bandage changes at OSU’s Veterinary Center. He’s reportedly purring and cuddling, thriving on affection from his medical team.

26 organizations receive $117K in grants from The Dayton Foundation

According to the Humane Society, the fire incident caused severe burns to the tissues of Joffrey’s ears, requiring them to be removed. However, the brave kitten’s fight is not yet over. Additional minor procedures are expected soon.

Joffrey is expected to return to Dayton in a few weeks.

To make a financial contribution to Joffrey’s care and the care of other animals who endure abuse, visit the Humane Society’s website .
