DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is dead after a crash overnight in Dayton.

According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, the crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. on the 1900 block of Stanley Avenue.

In a 911 call obtained by 2 NEWS, the caller says that the crash happened across the street from a Shell gas station, that a car went into a building and also involved two vehicles. They reported seeing a fire truck arrive to the scene as well.

The Dayton Police Department later clarified that officers were dispatched to the scene, which occurred more specifically at the intersection of Stanley Avenue and Webster Street.

After an initial investigation of the crash, evidence suggests that the driver of a gray/silver 2011 Mazda was driving at a high rate of speed westbound on Stanley Avenue when it drove through a red light and crashed into a second vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The only identification so far is that she was 68 years of age. The police department also confirmed that the driver of the Mazda fled their vehicle after the crash.

The Dayton Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone who was in the area of Webster Street and I-75 near the Shell gas station between 3:10 a.m. and 3:20 a.m. is asked to call 937-333-1149.
