DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Thanks to a generous donation, one local adoption center is covering all adoption costs.

The Animal Resource Center (ARC) of Montgomery County is currently covering the cost of all adoptions at their shelter. The shelter’s directors hope this is the nudge some may need to get these dogs to a loving home.

“For the dogs, it means the world, especially when you choose to adopt,” said Kara Hamby with the ARC.

The ARC sees a fluctuation of animals in and out of the shelter. They are currently caring for around 150 animals and each one comes with a unique situation – some lost and others abused.

Most of these dogs are uncomfortable in the shelter and desperately want a home and family.

“So being able to find them loving homes and get them out of here and somewhere where it’s more quiet, more peaceful is an amazing opportunity,” said Hamby.

As part of the free exchange, the pups come microchipped, spayed and neutered, and vaccinated. If you’ve been on the fence about looking for an animal, this could be the cost-free push you need to add the benefit of a furry friend to your life.

“As much as we love our jobs and working with the dogs, we understand this is no place for them. We do the best that we can here at the shelter, but really, where they should be is in a home,” said Hamby.

The free adoption offer is available while funding lasts.

MORE ppl of means who like to contribute to soc causes need to be directed to saving animals. NOT talking abt forcing ppl, talking steering ppl into these causes. Maybe then we wouldn't be asked for adoption fees of 4 HUNDRED FREAKING DOLLARS for a dog! Yes, I have seen that. Shelters upcharge for "purebreds", with the excuse they charge more for them to save the "mutts". However, the purebreds will sit longer cuz the pool of ppl having that AMT of money is smaller, & ppl will also wonder why that dog got dumped in a shelter. They need to stop that practice.
