Man dies after shooting in Trotwood; suspect in custody

TROTWOOD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Trotwood Police have released an update on the man shot Thursday evening .

According to Trotwood PD, officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of Bellcreek Lane for a shooting incident around 7:30 p.m.

At the scene, officers found a Hispanic male with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Vietnam War Veteran Buddy Giles says he never thought someone would be shot in his apartment community in Trotwood. Giles and his neighbors say they’re devastated at the news of someone being shot and killed.

“The lady told me the man had died. And then I heard on the news somebody had died and it shocked me,” said Giles.

A suspect was identified and taken into custody. Charges are unknown at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
