Two separate failures to stop resulted in two fatalities on Mercer County roads Saturday.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet SUV traveling east on State Route 707 ran a stop sign and struck a Kenworth semi traveling south on State Route 49 shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

The driver of the SUV, Kenneth A. Edwards, 44, of Decatur, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was uninjured.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, a Ford F150 pickup truck traveling west on Frahm Pike in Hopewell Township failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 118 and was struck by a northbound Honda SUV.

The front-seat passenger of the F150, Regina K. Huey, 59, of Geneva, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Ford F150 and Honda SUV were taken to Mercer Health ER.

Law enforcement, aided by the county Crash Reconstruction Team, continues to investigate both crashes. Results will be passed to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office to determine any applicable charges.
