Student facing charges after alleged social media threat

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) — A student is facing charges after allegedly making a threat against multiple schools within the Middletown City Schools District.

Superintendent Deborah Houser released a statement on behalf of the district yesterday, stating that the district was aware of said threat. The district collaborated with the Middletown Division of Police in an investigation, and now the student is facing consequences.

“We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of speaking up when they see or hear something concerning. In this case, the swift action of those who reported the threat was crucial in ensuring the situation was addressed quickly,” the district said.

Houser wrote that it’s important for parents to have conversations with their children about the importance of taking threats like these seriously, and the weight of them in general.

MCSD holds a zero-tolerance policy for threats of violence.

“We are committed to providing a safe environment where every student can learn and thrive.”
