SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) — Following the report of a threat made at a school in Ashtabula County, Springboro schools are taking precautionary measures.

The Springboro City Schools District said on Tuesday evening that their office, as well as the Springboro Police Department, was made aware of a threat posted on social media against Buckeye Local Schools.

A student from the Springboro school district reported the threat to authorities.

“A Springboro student reported concern over this message after it had been shared over Snapchat. While the message does show it originated outside the City of Springboro, with Buckeye Local School District mentioned, our district, as well as the Springboro Police Dept. are continuing to investigate this incident and treat it with the utmost seriousness,” reads an email sent out to parents and staff.

As a safety measure, the Springboro Police Department will have an increased presence around the district this week and absences have been excused for today.
