MIDDLETOWN, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Fall may not officially start for at least another week, but local farms have already prepared for the season.

McMonigle Farm in Middletown has been preparing for fall fest and is hoping for no rain, despite the drought.

For the past six years, the farm has celebrated the fall with a hayride, corn maze, and pumpkins. But when asked what her ideal weather is for fall fest, co-owner Diana McMonigle says “Not this.”

“People don’t think 85 and fall. So we like just a little chill in the air just to feel like fall,” said McMonigle.

The warm weather impacts not only the fall feeling, but also some crops.

“This year pumpkins actually did pretty well but sunflowers.. probably won’t have sunflowers this year. And in our corn maze. There’s areas that are kind of lopsided little areas where they’re not so developed and others they’re perfectly grown so it was basically dependent on how good the soil was,” said McMonigle.

This year was nothing that McMonigle Farms couldn’t handle.

“Weather is always an issue when you farm, so we’re used to setbacks. We count on it. So we just hope we can go with the setbacks,” said McMonigle.

This year the farm is offering a deal to give back to their customers. Customers can enjoy a hayride, a trip through the corn maze, and a pumpkin for just $12.

“We just count on Mother Nature to treat us good enough so we can have a fall fest for everybody,” said McMonigle.

Opening day for the farm is Sept. 28.
