DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A new plan set forward by AES Ohio would impact the price you pay.

According to AES Ohio, the company is deploying Smart Grid Phase 2, an initiative to reportedly continue modernizing the electric grid and keep customer benefits.

Open burn ban issued for 28 Ohio counties

If the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio moves to approve the project, customers that use 1,000 kWh will see an initial increase of $1.72 per month.

We have a commitment to our customers and community to ensure the reliability and
resiliency of our grid. In Smart Grid 1, we successfully deployed smart meters and reclosers,
equipment to automatically restore power. Our customers are already benefiting from fewer
    outages and decreased restoration times.”

Tom Raga, president of AES Ohio
