SPRINGFIELD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Wittenberg University has canceled all campus events and activities for Sunday after receiving a possible threat.

According to the university on Saturday, they received an email threatening a shooting on campus planned for Sept. 15. The university says the message targeted Haitian members of the community.

Wittenberg campus police is currently coordinating with the Springfield Police Division and the FBI to investigate the threat. Springfield police will offer increased patrols on-campus throughout the day.

All students, faculty and staff are asked to exercise caution and be alert to all surroundings. The campus community should also prepare for any possible lockdowns or additional instructions as law enforcement investigates.

If you see anything suspicious or have information to share with law enforcement, contact Wittenberg Police Division at the emergency line 937-327-6363 or non-emergency line 937-327-6231.
